So behind!

I know, I know! I haven't updated my blog in forever. It's not that we haven't been doing things or I don't have things to say it's just... no idea. I do know that I don't have pics to share because I had to trade my laptops again.
Steve and I have been enjoying winter so far. We took a quick trip to Branson, MO right after Christmas that was GREAT! One day I'll post pictures. We are looking onward to visiting Hawaii in late July.
Going to basketball games has kept us busy which is good since that's my favorite sport. January 29, 2010 will mark the 2 year post LID waiting period. I get asked all the time "how much longer" which I don't mind, I just wish I knew :) I am hopeful that things will speed up a little and we won't have to wait 2 more years. I'm looking forward to doing some shopping to celebrate our LID this year :)
Hope all is well, if you have suggestions for Hawaii I'm all ears!

Cindy, I know you don't know me, but I "know" of you through Amy Meppen's blog and I "know" you because of Karen Kinchen. And by "know" I mean I stalk your blog..sorry...
You were asking about Hawaii...have you ever been before? Where are you going? Oahu? Maui? My sister lives on Oahu, so I've been there several times...I've only been to Maui once, but if you have any questions about Oahu, shoot me an e-mail...

Hey Callie,
We are going on a cruise to Maui, Hilo, Kona, Kauai, and Honolulu. We are going a few days before the cruise and are trying to decide where we want to spend the extra time. I've never been so I'm so excited!

I love Waikiki (if you can stand a lot of people everywhere)...We stayed at the Hyatt Regency (we just got back two weeks ago) and really enjoyed that, although parking was very expensive. Pearl Harbor is nice and there's a restaurant about a mile down the road called Schooner's that's really good (next to the Pearl Harbor Yacht Club). The North Shore is beautiful (and the swells were huge a couple of weeks ago-20-25 foot faces)! If you like to hike, I would suggest Diamond Head and Manoa Falls near Honolulu.
If you enjoy surfing you can take lessons on Waikiki, but I enjoy Pokei Bay better (but there's no lessons out there, sorry).
My sister and her family live on the Waianae coast (the Leeward side), which, sad to say, is not very pretty...sorry...depending on when you're going to be there, my brother-in-law could play "host" for you if you wanted to surf or sail (they have several surfboards and a boat)
The Road to Hana is beautiful on Maui (it's an all day excursion).
I've never been to Kaui or the Big Island, so I'm not much help there, sorry...
Are you going on a 7 day cruise out of Honolulu (Aloha Tower, Pier 2?) We're thinking about doing that next February (2011). Let me know how it goes...

Hey Cindy,

Sorry I can't help you on Hawaii suggestions (it's been 20 years) but my favorite IS Waikiki, as I love to people watch! Driving to the North Shore is beautiful, and I've always said if I go back, I'm going to rent a car and drive the entire Ohahu island. It's breathtaking going past the pineapple fields, looking at the 3D mountains, and smelling the sea nearby! Anyway, this was my second choice if I didn't go to Egypt with Pamela, as Pamela's been wanting to go there, since I'm always talking about me being stationed there.

Since you're on a cruise, I won't mention my favorite hotel - Outrigger Reef, cus it's right off the beach and across from the International Marketplace. Anyway, You all will have fun no matter what you do and take lots of pictures and share on your blog or FB, so I can start planning our next trip! ;-) I can't believe Pamela and I will be in Africa in little more than 3 weeks! Yikes!
