LID #5~5 pictures

Today is our 5th month of waiting for Emily. It has seemed to go by quickly but sometimes the thought of waiting another 30 months is a bit daunting. Oh well, I can't make time go by quicker but I can stay busy which makes the time fly. So here are some pics of how I am staying busy...
My 32nd birthday was great! Thanks for all the cards and
well wishes. 32 looks to be a great year!

Steve surprised me with tickets to see Hairspray in Dallas.
It was a great show and a wonderful night!

Karen and I 'helped' out at Zoobilee. We ended up having to leave early
but it was fun while we were there. This is a new feature in our house. Steve has done something to his hip/leg. He is on some pretty strong pain meds and is seeing a physical therapist (Rich-my brother in law). They will probably do an MRI this week to help figure out what is wrong.

Last night we celebrated Andrew's, my nephew, 11th birthday. I can't believe he is 11, wow! We had fun celebrating yet another birthday :)

A success

Yea! The wedding was a success and Trey and Amber are off to Hawaii.
Yesterday I coordinated their wedding and had so much fun. My goal was to avoid the 3 wedding Fs-Fire, Falling, and Fainting. The 3 Fs were avoided and the wedding went off without too many glitches. It was a hectic day but a fun one. As I have said many, many times I LOVE weddings. Being on the inside helping out is very fun for me, even though it is very busy.
Me and Amber, isn't she a Beautiful Bride!
She had the biggest smile on all night :)
Karen and I had some fun with the chocolate fountain. A note to anyone having a big party, have a chocolate fountain!! It was too much fun and yummy at that :)

1 year = 100 Posts

That's right this is my 100th post. I started blogging one year ago and have had so much fun. It has been awesome to catch up with friends I haven't seen in a long time and to find some new friends as well. I love keeping everyone updated on our adoption process. It has been fun finding new blogs that are fun to read and find out about people all over the world. I have also enjoyed finding random things to blog about. Whenever I take a picture I ask myself, is it blog worthy? It has become a family joke :)

On with the blog... Last night we celebrated my sister's birthday. My mom made her favorite dinner which was very, very good. We had an ice cream cake also, yummy. The picture was Cheryl's idea :) My parents had this painting done while we lived in Germany. It has always hung over the piano. In their house now it hangs in the living room and tends to be a conversation piece with every party or get together we have. We thought it would be funny to try that poise again, about 31 years later.
June is a huge birthday month for my family with mom, Cheryl, me and Andrew plus several of my close friends. There always seems to be a celebration going on which is fabulous.

Father's Day

We had a fun weekend with some time to relax and celebrate Father's Day. On Saturday we saw Kung Fu Panda with Hannah. It is such a cute movie. Steve and I laughed hard and are still joking about how funny Po was. Every time they said "China" Hannah would turn and flash a huge smile, too sweet! We celebrated Father's Day on Sunday with lunch at home. We had fun sharing fun stories with each other.
On Sunday night I watched the Tony Awards which is an annual ritual for me. I used to watch them in high school and declare to my parents that I wanted to be on Broadway. Well, I didn't quite make it but I still really enjoy experiencing Broadway (even if it is a tour company). I get my scoop from Keith who works for a Broadway fundraising company, BC/EFA, and has an office in Times Square. How jealous am I! Anyway, it was fun to watch and get my musical theatre fix for awhile.
Hope everyone had a great time celebrating with their dad's or celebrating being a dad!

After

The bathroom is finished! This picture is taken from the bathtub. The color doesn't really show up well but I guess that's how it is with pictures. I love the color and think it turned out great. The color is brighter in person and more green, I think. I asked Zorin if he like it and he just shrugged his shoulders, guess that isn't a great sign but at least Steve and I like it. We found a picture that matched perfectly as well. I love, love, love the shells. So our house projects are finished for now. Now if I could just keep it clean all the time we would be doing great :)

Catching Up

We had a good week after the quick trip to Amarillo. The great news is Kirby is recovering well and may be able to go home by tomorrow. I know Mickey is anxious to have him back home where she can take care of him.

On Tuesday night we celebrated my mom's birthday. It was a great night with the family. I also survived my first week of summer school (Steve is already into his second and has already given test, wow how time flies). I am teaching 1st grade and am enjoying it (for the most part). I have 9 boys and 2 girls. The boys keep me busy that's for sure. One of the perks is we have Friday's off, whoever thought of that was brilliant. So I am enjoying my first day off in a while. Of course ,I haven't been as productive as I should but I did get groceries and I am catching up on everyone's blogs :)

A success!

Kirby made it out of surgery okay! The doctors seemed happy with what they saw and said it was better than they had hoped. The next 24 hours will be crucial to his recovery. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. God has truly been working in a MIGHTY way!!

weekend update

Steve and I did a quick 24 hour trip to Amarillo to see Kirby and family. It was great to see Kirby sitting up in bed and joking like always. He has no signs of brain damage of any sort. He will be moved to a new hospital today. His triple by-pass surgery should be tomorrow. Thank you so much for your continued prayers. Kirby is in great spirits and has many friends and family surrounding him. Several prayers have already been answered and we are praying for the surgery tomorrow.
Thank you!

update

Kirby is has been taken off the ventilator which is great. He is not talking much but is talking some which is a good sign. The doctors at the hospital want him to have by-pass surgery on Monday. Steve and I will drive up to Amarillo for the weekend to see him and be with the family. Please pray for the doctors and Kirby as they prepare for surgery. Please continue to have Mickey and the family in your prayers as well.
Thank you!

Urgent Prayer Request

Our brother-in-law, Kirby Davis, is in an Amarillo hospital. Kirby collapsed while at work yesterday. They were able to revive him and get him to the hospital. A CT scan showed no brain bleed, which is good. He is on a ventilator and in a medically induced coma. They want him to rest and plan to wake him up tomorrow afternoon.
In the fall Kirby was told that he had several blocked arteries and that surgery was not a option. He is on medication and an exercise program. Please pray for his wife Mickey (Steve's sister) and the doctors who are working on him. Steve and I will head to Amarillo asap.

An afternoon with Lindsay

I had the pleasure of spending some fun time with Andrea and Lindsay yesterday afternoon. It was so fun to play and hold this precious little girl. I can't believe she is going to be 1 on Friday. Our favorite activity was playing pic-a-boo wherever we could. Oh, I can't wait to play with Emily!
I ended my day by having dinner with Karen and Linda. It was great to catch up with Linda and relax before the last few days. The next 12 hours will be very busy - That's how many hours the kids have left at school. We have Kindergarten graduation tonight and 5th grade celebration tomorrow morning. The time will go by quickly and I have tons to get done. I emailed myself a list of things to get done so I would remember them all. I think it helped me sleep better last night :) Oh, if I could only be that organized all the time!
