Summer begins

I am now on summer vacation I had my last day of summer school yesterday. It was nice to get up this morning and be able to start gettings things done around the house. I will have 5 full weeks off. That will be a great time for the adoption paperchase to begin. Tonight we are headed to Dallas to see Spamalot with my friend Karen. I am looking forward to laughing a lot :)
We are headed to San Antonio tomorrow to celebrate my nephew's 10th birthday, Happy Birthday Andrew! It will be one of our last trips to San Antonio to visit family.
Have a wonderful weekend!

update

I sent out my blog address to some friends who I haven't 'talked' to in awhile so I thought I would give a quick update.
I am still a counselor at Cedar Ridge Elementary in Waco. My school has about 600 students so I stay busy. Steve is working at Baylor in the math department and we are both teaching summer school for one more week.
For Steve's 40th birthday in March I surprised him with a trip to London and Paris. It was a wonderful, wonderful trip. I hope to post more pics from the trip. Our favorite thing to do while we don't have kids yet is to travel. We have been to L.A., San Francisco, Red River, Jamaica, and Walt Disney World to name a few places.
Many of you know my sister, Cheryl. Well, her family is moving back to Waco. I will be so glad to have Andrew, Jacob, and Hannah closer to spoil. That's an aunts job right :) Hannah was adopted from China in 2003 which is one reason why we picked China for our adoption.
I was diagnosed with Polisystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in Aug. and found out that was the main reason for my infertility. We have tried a few fertility options over the past 3 years with the last one being an IUI in May. Adoption is something we considered even before my issues became relevant so this is an exciting time. I am especially glad Cheryl will be close to help me with all the paper work since she has been through it.
I am looking forward to keeping everybody "up" with the adoption process and what's happening here in central Texas.

Birthday Weekend Review

Well, I am now a year older. I had my 31st birthday yesterday. It was a fun weekend with friends and family. It started on Friday with my mom taking me and 5 friends to lunch. It was great to catch up and chat about the summer. My friend Karen and I then went to get pedicures, my one vice. During the summer I love to have my toes looking pretty.
On Saturday Steve and I did a little shopping and then went to a friend's cookout. We celebrated my birthday there with a cookie cake. I love chocolate chip cookies so that was perfect, thanks Karen!
Yesterday I started my birthday by sleeping in which was wonderful. Steve took me to bruch at IHOP, my favorite breakfast spot. It was yummy. We had dinner at my parents house. Mom made my favorite cookout meal and daddy grilled. What a great way to celebrate. Plus, my sister and her kids were in town so I was able to celebrate with them. Andrew, my oldest nephew, will have his 10th birthday on Wednesday. We will get to celebrate with him in San Antonio this weekend at laser quest.
Hopefully I will soon figure out the picture adding part to this blog. I decided my sister needed to start a blog also. My mom thinks I'm a little crazy but that is nothing new :) I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

let's try again

So my second post didn't work out too well. I guess it will take some time before this really does become a hobby. I am teacing summer school right now so when I am off in July I will have something to keep me busy.
Here is a little bit about me and maybe why I decided to blog... As I said before I have several church friends who have started blogs. Most who have children or are expecting a child very soon. What a great way to keep in touch with friends and family around the country. I am pretty lucky that my parents live in Waco and my sister and her family are moving back to Waco soon. As much as I LOVE to take pictures I though it might be fun to show some off. Course I haven't figured out how to put them into the blog yet but hopefully I will soon :) I thought it would also be a good way to let friends know where we are in the process of adopting. Yes, that's right we are adopting from China. The first set of official paperwork has been sent in with many more reems of paper to go. I can't wait to learn more about adoption and to travel this road.

here we go

How random is this?!? Several friends have started blogs and it looks fun. Although I don't know that I will have lots to write I figure it can be a good way to journal. I have to figure out all the ends and outs before I really get started. Should be fun.
